3 Cows, 3 pigs, or was it 2?

Looking out from the balcony today, I saw 3 pigs walking in a procession down the street... there was a lead pig and then 2 others behind (they were in formation)... then I saw the cows... I peeked over the balcony and counted three and announced this to the roommates (who I also told about the pigs), no wait, I think there are only two (the other must have been a ghost)... time passed... there was the third "three cows!" ... My roommate said it must be auspicious...
